The Joy Project Officially Launched: A Beacon of Hope and Empowerment in Saint Kitts and Nevis

Palms Court Gardens came alive on the evening of December 5th , 2024 as the much-anticipated official launch of The Joy Project brought together a dynamic gathering of business professionals, NGOs, and community leaders. With its mission to empower, uplift, and bring joy to the vulnerable—particularly women and children—The Joy Project has firmly established itself as a beacon of hope in the Caribbean region.

Founded by Mrs. Diani Prince-Drew, The Joy Project is a non-profit organisation dedicated to creating lasting change through initiatives such as the Cool Schools Initiative, The Love Box Project, The Menstrual Wellness Project, The Joyful Parks Project, and Women of Worth. The launch event featured an evening of inspiration, beginning with a moving video presentation of the foundation’s mission and impact, and culminating with heartfelt remarks from the founder herself. Mrs. Prince-Drew, visibly moved by the overwhelming support and the turnout of a diverse and distinguished audience, expressed her gratitude: “I am deeply overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, encouragement, and support this evening. Your presence reaffirms that our mission resonates with so many who believe in the transformative power of kindness and service,” she shared. “The Joy Project is not just about financial donations; it is about giving your time, your skills, and your expertise to help those who need it most. Together, we can create a ripple effect of joy that reaches every corner of our community.”

Mrs. Prince-Drew also took a poignant moment to acknowledge her parents, whom she credits with instilling in her the values of compassion and philanthropy from an early age. “Growing up, I watched my parents care for others in the most selfless ways. They inspired me to lead a life of service, and The Joy Project is the culmination of that legacy.”

Born in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Diani Prince-Drew’s journey is one defined by service, compassion, and excellence. As the eldest of two children in a family deeply committed to uplifting others, her early life was shaped by her mother, a nurse turned administrator, and her father, a journalist who later became the Minister of Health. Their example of kindness and selflessness inspired Mrs. Prince-Drew to dedicate her life to advocacy and public service.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Prince-Drew served as Crown Counsel, In-house legal counsel, and as a Diplomat at the United Nations and the European Union, tackling complex issues of international peace and security. Her philanthropic vision is now embodied in The Joy Project, where she channels her expertise, passion, and heart into initiatives that empower vulnerable groups, particularly women and children.

The launch ceremony was designed to embody the spirit of the organisation—uplifting, compassionate, and purposeful. The atmosphere was electric, yet intimate, with heartfelt conversations and connections forged over shared dedication to community upliftment. As Mrs. Prince-Drew encouraged attendees during her address, “The Joy Project is not mine alone—it belongs to all of us. It is a call to action, a collective commitment to transform lives. I invite you to join us in spreading joy and empowering those who need it most.”
